Parents of 14–16 year olds — this is for you.
What if one week could help shape your teen into a more confident, capable, and prepared young adult?

The Lanett Police Department is launching something new — a one-week Teen Skills Police Academy focused on one mission: equipping our youth with real-life skills that build professional, responsible adults and future leaders in our community.

This isn’t about becoming a police officer. It’s about becoming prepared for life.

Every day, our School Resource Officers see both the challenges our teens face and the potential they carry. We believe that potential should be developed, not left to chance. This program is designed to break cycles that hold our youth back and replace them with habits, skills, and mindsets that move them forward.

During this week, your teen will gain hands-on experience in:
• Automotive basics like changing a tire
• Professional communication and job interview skills
• Decision-making, responsibility, and accountability
• Real-world life lessons taught by law enforcement professionals

Our goal is simple: to help your teen walk away more confident, more disciplined, and better prepared to step into adulthood with purpose.

This isn’t just a camp — it’s an investment in who your child is becoming.
Seats will be limited, and interest is expected to be high.

If you want your teen to be equipped with the skills needed to succeed in the real world and grow into a leader in our community, we encourage you to reach out today.

For more information, contact the Lanett Police Department or one of our School Resource Officers

4 of our senior students had the opportunity to attend Lineman Day in Phenix City, hosted by Alabama Power. Lineman are highly trained professionals who install, maintain, and repair the electrical power systems that keep our homes, schools, and communities running. This experience gave our students a hands-on look into a high-demand, well-paying career field while highlighting the importance of skilled trades in our everyday lives. Thank you to Alabama Power for having us and for your positive involvement in our community.

Our seniors visited Tuskegee University, where they first toured the campus with outstanding student ambassadors who were welcoming, knowledgeable, and proud to share the university’s history. Students then attended the Black Greek Expo, gaining insight into campus life and student involvement, and visited the George Washington Carver Museum and the Legacy Museum, deepening their understanding of the institution’s rich history and cultural impact. Many students shared how much they enjoyed the experience. They also had the opportunity to hear from Dr. Brown, who offered words of encouragement and spoke highly of the Tuskegee campus.
