Warning: The following is deeply personal...read at your own risk!!!

I began an excellent Bible study before school started in January 2014. The study was based on Mark Batterson's book The Circle Maker. In his book, Reverend Batterson instructed the readers to "draw prayer circles" around important aspects of their life. Mark also advocates that you incorporate scripture into your prayer circles. My vow this year is to circle my classroom in prayer as soon as I arrive to school. Each morning I lovingly touch each childs chair as I pray circles around the room. During this prayer time, I incorporate Psalms 91:11 as I petition God to command his angels concerning the students, teachers, administration, and parents of Lanett City Schools. I ask that his angels guard our hearts, minds, bodies, and emotions from any evil influence.

Reverend Batterson's book also had a section about dream makers. In reading that section, I felt called to help my students become dream makers. It is my wish that through my classes I inspire my students to pursue their dreams. So in praying around my room, I also ask God to speak through my lessons so that Room 125 becomes a place where dreams are born.

I have wanted to be a teacher since I was in fourth grade. During the ninth grade, I took a home economics course and knew that was what I wanted to spend the rest of my life doing. I am so thankful to the Lanett Board of Education for continuing to allow me to fulfill my dreams each school day.
