On Saturday, October 28, 2017, the Lanett High School Robotics Team competed against 24 other public and private schools of all classifications in the War Eagle BEST robotics competition at Auburn University.  Robotics teams were given six weeks to design and create a robot to perform specific tasks.  In competition, team members drove their robot in three-minute rounds, scoring points for each completed task.  While the Lanett team experienced some early-round technical difficulties, robotics members were able to make adjustments to the robot’s drive mechanism and storm back to a strong finish.  Their 50-page Engineering Design Notebook qualified them to compete in the wildcard match against Lagrange Academy, Saint James, and Holtville.  After taking 1st place in the wildcard match, Lanett advanced to the semifinals finishing in 7th place.  Members of the 2017 Lanett High School Robotics Team are Melvin Barnes, Timora Barrow, Azaria Booker, Quindasha Dunson, Nakia Dutch, Nyasia Mason, Jaime Raya, Jaden Robinson, Asiaeonna Thornhill, Shaunna Villasana Brown, and Zekera Watts.
