Breast Cancer Awareness

Select A New Community Service

The LHS Science Club participates yearly during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. The club sponsors activities during the school day by passing out literature to educate the student body on health issues and prevention. Students are given a pink ribbon or pin to wear. On Friday night of the week-long observance, a program honoring the fighters-- survivors and the fallen—is done during the pre-game show. Parents, families, students, and fans all take part. Pink balloons are released. It’s a spectacular event in that spectators, band, cheerleaders, and football players are all wearing pink to support the cause. Science Club Members enjoy learning, sharing, and giving. A check is sent to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for cancer research.
