Mission Statement

Lanett City Schools will provide a supportive and rigorous educational environment that produces responsible, self-motivated students who are prepared for the future.

  About The School

Nestled on the banks of the Chattahoochee River in East Central Alabama, the Lanett City School District was established on January 27, 1898, by the West Point Manufacturing Company Board of Directors.  Headed by Lafayette Lanier and E.F. Lanier, who also served on the school board, the Board of Directors had a vision to provide a first-class education to the children of Lanett, Alabama.

For over 115 years, Lanett City Schools has continued to provide innovative education for students in grades K-12. Surrounded by a once-thriving textile industry, the school system has adapted to the loss in manufacturing-based jobs and has emerged as a state-recognized leader in enrichment opportunities by offering Advanced Placement courses, JROTC, and an impressive elementary gifted curriculum. State-of-the-art computer labs and technology integration across the curriculum allow Lanett students to learn in 21st century classrooms.

Vision and purpose gave birth to the Lanett City District over a century ago. Through this strategic plan, vision and purpose will once again provide the light by which Lanett teachers will have the necessary tools to provide exceptional  instruction.
